2002 National Award
Associated General Contractors of America Build America Award Winner
Cedar Valley Corp. was honored at the AGC of America’s 2002 Annual Convention in Las Vegas. CVC was presented with the “Build America Merit Award for Highway Renovation” for their work on Interstate 35/80 at 14th Street Project in Polk County.
The Build America Award recognizes excellence in the construction industry. Build America judges look for projects that have excelled in state-of-the-art advancements, excellence in project management, innovations in construction or use of materials, contributions to the community, superiority in client service, rising to the challenge of a difficult job and sensitivity to the environment and surroundings.
2002 Nebraska State Award of Merit
Nebraska Department of Roads
Cedar Valley Corp.'s project in Nebraska, Columbus East Expressway, won the best project submitted in the category of Interstates and Expressways for the year 2002.
Projects are rated on smoothness, innovation, quality control, traffic management and public relations.
2002 Nebraska Signature Award

CVC Project Manager Craig Hughes was awarded the inaugural Nebraska 2002 Signature Award for Excellence in Highway Construction for his work on the Columbus East Expressway. The plaque reads "His considerable skills in communication, problem solving and listening resulted in a quality project in which all partners are proud to be associated."
2002 IDOT Award
In November of 2002 the Iowa Department of Transportation recognized Cedar Valley Corp. with a plaque in appreciation of the company's contribution on the US 65/Iowa 330 Diagonal Project. IDOT acknowledged this was a major project that was accomplished through contractors following a tight completion schedule and making superb coordination efforts.
2002 Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Technology Award
Authorized by Iowa State University in April 2000, the Center for Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Technology (PCC Center) was formed through a private, public and university sector partnership. Partners include Iowa Concrete Paving Association, Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa State University's Department of Civil Construction and Environmental Engineering, and the Center for Transportation Research and Education (CTRE). Working with its advisory board and standing committees, the PCC Center seeks sustainable support within and outside Iowa. The staff works with foundations and organizations to identify potential future partners and funding sources and to help develop an understanding of research, technology and training priorities.
The Center for Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Technology recognized Cedar Valley Corp. for participating in the pavement research project on field evaluation for elliptical steel dowel performance.
2002 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Community Partnering Award
 Given by the Associated General Contractors of America for an outstanding partnering project.
Throughout both the public and private sector, Cedar Valley Corp. has earned a reputation for competitive pricing, quality, workmanship and superior projects. Cedar Valley Corp. has strongly embraced recent changes in the construction climate. In 1993, the company received one of the first awards given by the Associated General Contractors of America for an outstanding partnering project. The highly prestigious MARVIN M. BLACK AWARD was presented to Cedar Valley Corp. for the construction of the West I-80/I-35 Mixmaster in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Associated General Contractors of America again honored Cedar Valley Corp. with the Marvin M. Black Award in 2002. The Iowa project recognized was US Highway 71 Corridor. |
