2004 MoDot Contractor Performance Award

The Missouri State Department of Transportation rates the prosecution and progress of the jobs performed in their state.  The contractors are rated on specific elements of the job specifications.  Rating is based on the contractor's completion schedule (carrying the most weight) and their coordination of subcontractors and job supervision.  Cedar Valley Corp. was the prime contractor on the Canton project in District 3, receiving a perfect rating of 100%!

The plaque reads,
"The performances rated on elements of specification awarded Cedar Valley Corp. a Contractor Performance Award in recognition and appreciation of top ratings for prosecution and progress on the 2003 Contractor Performance Rating System for Medium Volume Contractors"
.

2004 Portland Cement Concrete Paving Awards

Cedar Valley Corp. is honored with five awards!

Over 600 engineers, highway officials, contractors, and consultants gathered at the Iowa Concrete Paving Association’s (ICPA) 40th Annual Concrete Paving Workshop. Highlighting the three-day event was the presentation of the 2003 Portland Cement Concrete Paving Awards. In determining the winners of Iowa’s most prestigious paving awards, 50 nominated projects were rated on smoothness, quality control, general appearance and workmanship, contractor management, safety, and project complexity. The ICPA and the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) jointly evaluated and recognized the following CVC projects as 2003’s best concrete pavements built in the following categories.

  • TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AWARD
This award recognizes the use of innovative traffic management techniques in all categories, and is not mutually exclusive of the other 11 categories. All projects are considered for the traffic management award. CVC won this award for the Polk County (I-35/80 and Douglas Avenue Interchange) project in Urbandale, Iowa.

  • INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS CATEGORY
This category includes mainline paving of considerable size on divided highways, interstates and tollways constructed in urban areas with the majority of the project located within the Metropolitan Planning Organization boundaries. CVC won this award for the Pottawattamie County (I 80 from the Madison Ave. interchange toward Council Bluffs), project.

  • CONCRETE OVERLAYS CATEGORY
This category recognizes a project based on its innovative use of concrete overlays and includes any type of concrete overlay (bonded overlay, unbonded overlay, conventional white topping, and ultra-thin whitetopping) on an existing pavement. CVC won this award for the Monona County (Central Avenue in Northwood) project.

  • URBAN ARTERIALS & COLLECTORS CATEGORY
This category includes major projects that are part of a metropolitan highway system that provide links between highway interstates or tollways. CVC won this award for the City of West Des Moines (Mills Civic Parkway and I-35) project.

  • SPECIAL RECOGNITION CATEGORY - TRAILS
This category recognizes those projects that do not have a comparison and/or meet the requirements specified in other categories. CVC won this award for the Cedar Valley Nature Trail in Hiawatha, Iowa.

Iowa is recognized as a national leader in the field of concrete paving because of the many innovations and inventions that have originated from the state. It is quite clear that CVC is a leader as well! CVC congratulates all the employees involved with these award-winning projects!
